Stihl

When STIHL was founded in the 1920’s, their main goal was to find a way to make the lives of people who work in outdoor environments much easier. By 1926 they had designed and built the first two-person electric chain saw which revolutionized the forestry industry. Since then, they have continued to expand their product line with innovative solutions for the everyday worker. They are now leaders in various industries because of their dedication to producing state-of-the-art outdoor power equipment.

STIHL believes in the power of giving their customers an unparalleled purchasing experience. That is why STIHL products are only sold through authorized local STIHL dealers, not big box stores. Ohio Power Tool is proudly one of the Authorized Sales & Service Center for Stihl Power Equipment in the United States. The Stihl name carries a long line of trust among professionals in many different trades, from arborist to concrete professionals. Ohio Power Tool has a focus in the construction trades but offers a wide variety of Stihl products from Cutquik Concrete Saws to a range of Chainsaws from 10″ to 25″, Blowers, Full KombiSystems, Cordless Tools, Pressure Washers, Trimmers, and much more.

Today, Stihl is well represented in more than 180 countries in varied industries, including forestry, construction, landscape, and agriculture.

The major expansion came in the seventies when the company built plants in Brazil and the United States. The number of Stihl products also greatly increased. They were growing the product base from chainsaws to edgers, line trimmers, and blowers.

The international headquarters of Andreas Stihl AG and Company KG, are located in Waiblingen, Baden-Wüttemberg Germany, near Stuggart.

Best Stihl Tools Reviews in 2021:

Where Are Stihl tool Made?

If you’re looking for a high-quality tool, you’ll be happy to know that the vast majority of Stihl chainsaws are put together in Virginia Beach USA with mostly domestic parts.

Even the ones that are made in Germany’s best manufacturing plants. The most notable of the German-made chainsaws are the MS 201 and the MS 441.

You can expect the carburetors to come from Stihl’s Chinese manufacturing plants, but don’t worry about the quality. Stihl purchased those plants, and they hold the products coming from them to very high standards.

All of the chains Stihl uses are made in Switzerland by their top manufacturers.

1. Stihl MS 170

Stihl MS 170

The MS 170 is the saw I’d recommend for most entry-level users. This is best stihl chainsaw for homeowner in the list. It’s small, capable, and easy to use.

Let’s start with what this saw is capable of. It can cut trees that are between 12 and 16 inches in diameter depending on what guide bar and chain you use.

That’s not a lot of cutting length, but it’s more than enough to trim your trees or clear out storm debris. Surprisingly, it can also handle some bigger jobs once you get comfortable with it.

It’s also pretty light due to its small size. Its lightweight design makes it easier for average people to use it.

The MS 170 is known to start very quickly, too. With other saws, you might have to pull the ignition line nearly a dozen more times to get them to fire, but the MS 170 typically starts up within less than three pulls. One complaint that I have is that it doesn’t hold a lot of gas. Its small size doesn’t really allow for a decent gas tank to be installed.

So, you’ll have to settle for refueling every time you burn through 8.5 ounces of gasoline. That’s not a big deal for small jobs, but it gets annoying during more prolonged use.

2. Stihl MS 362 C-M

Stihl MS 362 C-M

This general-purpose chainsaw is an upgraded version of Stihl’s basic MS 362. It’s probably the best stihl chainsaw for the money if you are interested in investing for your job. Its microprocessor-managed engine keeps it running at peak performance.

The cutting length on this saw is more than enough for most jobs. It can handle diameters of 25″ without any issues, and its motor can reach 4.69 BHP to make cutting through hardwood a breeze.

With 20.3 ounces of fuel capacity, you can expect it to last far longer than the MS 170 I reviewed earlier, and it shouldn’t have to be refueled during basic jobs.

However, the most impressive feature is its microprocessor. The processor is connected to the engine, and it makes adjustments as the engine runs to help it adapt to cutting conditions naturally.

That means that the MS 362 C-M will maintain its cutting power regardless of wood density, temperature, and other variables that can slow other saws down.

3. Stihl MSE 250 C-Q

Stihl MSE 250 C-Q

The Stihl MSE 250 C-Q is a corded electric chainsaw. This will take away exhaust fumes and minimize the noise in noise-restricted areas.

The 250 C-Q can handle diameters between 16 and 20 inches. It’s a decent saw in terms of size, but its power source makes it somewhat limited. It’s light for its size, though. The saw has fewer internal parts than a gas saw, so it is more comfortable to hold.

With the proven Stihl Quickstop® chain brake system, you can stop the chain in just a second. Therefore, injuries are less likely to occur during emergencies or kickbacks. This saw’s quiet nature is one of its best features. Noisy neighbors or cities can be a problem if you live in a small area. This thing generates almost no noise, so your neighbors won’t be disturbed by it.

4. Stihl MSA 140 C-BQ

Stihl MSA 140 C-BQ

Stihl’s MSA 140 C-BQ chainsaw is rated highly in several Stihl chainsaw reviews since it has an unexpected power for its tiny size at 8.19 pounds.

Pruning, climbing, and cutting firewood are all pretty effective with this tool. This chainsaw has guide bars only 10-14 inches wide so that it will take only handlebars up to 12 inches tall. For removing thick hardwood trees, this is probably not the best choice.

Unlike gas-powered models, it is much quieter in operation thanks to its 36V battery. When you cut through thicker trunks, the battery will drain faster. On a full charge, you can use the MSA 140 C-BQ for about 45 minutes.

You must purchase the battery and charger for the Stihl MSA 140 C-BQ separately if you buy it as a standalone tool. As for the chain, it may need to be sharpened frequently or replaced more frequently than others due to its lower durability.

5. STIHL GRASS TRIMMER FS 50 C-E

STIHL GRASS TRIMMER FS 50 C-E

When you need a string trimmer to take care of small jobs around your front or back yard, you may not need a powerhouse trimmer. This Stihl model is an entry-level weed eater that handles well, thanks to its curved shaft. It includes some great features to make it easy to use, whether you’re a pro or beginner power tool user. For beginners, this Stihl weed trimmer is a good choice because it’s lightweight and easy to use.

An adjustable front handle makes it easy to make this trimmer comfortable for you to use, regardless of your height. Move it up to give you more reach and not have to bend down to reach the handle. Or slide it down and lock it in place to give shorter users more control over the tool. Stihl also includes an easy starter that typically only takes one pull of the cord after you prime the pump. The stop switch is a great safety feature that makes it easy to stop the motor if you’re, say, weed whacking in the back yard and nearly chop down some of your prized daffodils. Just hit the button and it stops whacking.

If you’re concerned about buying a gas-powered trimmer because of emissions, you’ll be happy to know that Stihl works hard to create products that produce low exhaust emissions, making it a cleaner choice for the environment than ever before. It’s one of the easiest to use trimmers on the market, which makes it a great beginner lawn care tool. The best parts are that it’s lightweight and it starts easily, but for more details, be sure to check out this Stihl weed eater specs.

6. STIHL GRASS TRIMMER FS 56 RC-E

STIHL GRASS TRIMMER FS 56 RC-E

For those who have an acre or more of land to trim, then this Stihl model is a good choice. The straight shaft makes it easy for you to get to those tough-to-reach spots underbrush and bushes without damaging the foliage you want to keep. Although this Stihl weed eater has more power, it’s still relatively easy to handle.

Despite the straight shaft and increased power compared to other similar models, it’s still a lightweight machine, which is important when you have lots of weeds to power through. The heavier and more powerful a weed trimmer is, the more likely your arms will tire out. The increased power, though, means you can get your yard done more quickly, and the tool can handle jobs like slicing through tiny saplings you want to clear away.

One of the best features of almost any gas-powered Stihl weed wacker is that it generally starts on the first pull, and that alone may be worth the money for some homeowners. You can expect some of the basic features of Stihl weed eaters, like a fully lined driveshaft to absorb some vibration.

7. Stihl BR 350

If your property is more than an acre and has densely wooded areas, and if you often need to blast a heap of leaves 100 feet across a field, we suggest the Stihl BR 350. You can certainly find more powerful blowers, but after we conducted a test of the Stihl against four competitors and put it through four years of long-term field testing by pro landscapers, our experts agreed that the midrange BR 350 has all the power anyone would really need.

The BR 350 is chock-full of smart design features, such as an upward-oriented gas fill and a well-protected gas cap. It also has a convenient spot for placing your hand while you’re pull-starting. The Stihl is gas powered, so you’ll have to properly use, store, and maintain a two-stroke gas engine (and diagnose and fix any issues that arise). It’s powerful and totally portable, but you truly need to have a lot of ground to cover to justify purchasing this blower. It’s also available only at authorized Stihl dealers, not online.

8. STIHL 36V EXTENDED-REACH POLE HEDGE TRIMMERS

STIHL 36V EXTENDED-REACH POLE HEDGE TRIMMERS

Stihl has released their most powerful 36V battery-powered hedge trimmers yet, the HLA 135 Series. These 3 models, differentiated by a fixed or adjustable cutting head and a short or long shaft, extend your reach. They definitely give you the tools to get a lot of trimming done quickly, even in noise-restricted areas.

The Stihl HLA 135 extended-reach battery-powered hedge trimmers offer a few options in terms of design. The HLA 135, HLA 135 K, and HLA 135 K 145º hedge trimmers all feature the same shafts, gearboxes, and cutting heads as the gas-powered Stihl models to deliver the same performance and durability you’ve come to expect. They just pack them with a less noisy, more convenient battery-powered head.

Stihl claims that the HLA 135 Series of 36V battery-powered hedge trimmers rivals the performance of their gas models. While the details of what that actually looks like remain pretty ill-defined, we feel we can base some of our expectations around the European models already available overseas.

9. Stihl HT 56 C-E Pole Saw

Stihl HT 56 C-E Pole Saw

The HT 56 C-E from Stihl is arguably the most popular pole saw for homeowners that have a relatively large amount of pruning to take care of.

This pruner is packed with desirable features. It is designed to make it easier than ever for homeowners to do their own tree trimming. It’s also exceptionally lightweight. While this pole saw boasts some features that you won’t find on other trimmers from competing brands, it’s still an affordable alternative to most quality pole saws.

The HT 56 C-E boasts a 27.2cc engine and measures in at 9’2” long, making it the ideal size for most residential trimming jobs.

This pole saw is backed by a two-year warranty from Stihl. Even if you use the saw for commercial purposes. This means you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’re covered if there are any issues with your saw.

10. STIHL POLE PRUNERS | HT 134 AND HT 135

STIHL POLE PRUNERS | HT 134 AND HT 135

Stihl expanded their line of Professional Pole Pruners to feature even more shaft length than the HT 132 and HT 133. The Stihl HT 134 and HT 135 Pole Pruners give landscapers and lawn techs even greater reach for when it comes time to cut at height.

The upgrade that Stihl has implemented with the line expansion comes down to each pole pruner’s extended shaft length. Prior to this release, Stihl offered a fixed-length pole pruner (HT 132) that extended 5 ft. 7 in., and an extendable shaft model (HT 133) that you could adjust between 7 ft. 6 in. to 11 ft. 6 in.

With the Stihl HT 134 and HT 135 Pole Pruners, you get even more reach. The fixed length model now extends to an overall length of 6 ft. 11 in. The adjustable length of the other model now reaches anywhere between 8 ft. 10 in. to 12 ft. 10 in. In both cases, the longer reach helps keep you on the ground instead of on a lift.

Beyond that, not too much else differs between these respective models. Both of the upgraded Stihl pole pruners feature the same 36.3 cc motor, which was the major upgrade from the HT 102 and 103 to the HT 132 and 133. It does look like the newer editions have a newer low-profile, anti-kickback chain and a bit more weight, but the extra weight could be expected with the extra shaft length.
