Instead of people lining up after Thanksgiving dinner and packing the stores, retailers anticipate seeing most of their shoppers lining up browser tabs and clicking through the deals. Black Friday 2021 is just around the corner on the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 26. Cyber Monday follows on Monday, November 29. Online shopping has its advantages over in-store shopping: no crowds to battle and no carts to lug around, plus you’ll have full access to deals from all your favorite retailers. And getting an early start on shopping is a savvy move: As sales mount, shipping times will get tighter. The sooner you get started, the more time you’ll have to relax as the holidays get closer.
With a power tool in hand and Youtube tutorials at the ready, you can conquer any DIY or home renovation project life throws at you. It doesn’t matter if you are new to the tool game or have a well-stocked garage, we expect exciting savings on Black Friday tool deals this year.
When is Black Friday?
Technically, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, and this year it lands on Friday, November 26. But “Black Friday” has become more of a catch-all term beyond a single day. We’ve already noted early Black Friday sales popping up since the first week of October—and we expect continuous sales through Cyber Monday (November 29) into early December.
Look out for ongoing “preview sales” with promised Black Friday pricing from major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. These preview sales serve a dual purpose: Because they expand the Black Friday sales window by weeks, they give you more time to buy and give the retailers more time to make money.
As usual, there will be only a smattering of good deals amidst an avalanche of bad ones (though that’s true of Black Friday itself, too). The other added benefit for both retailers and risk-averse shoppers is that you can be assured of stock availability and insulated from shipping delays by purchasing early—and this year, that makes these early sales more worth your time and consideration than ever before.

3. Crescent 170-Piece Mechanic Tool Set
A sturdy plastic case keeps every tool secure, whether you’re transporting or storing. The chrome vanadium steel alloy tools include wrenches, sockets, screwdriver bits, pliers, screwdrivers, ratchets, and hex keys, with multiple extension bars and size adapters.
The case only weighs 20 pounds and has a sleek design that makes it great for mobility. While it doesn’t have some of the more specific adapters, like a breaker bar, it does contain a good variety of the standard DIY tools that you can find in a superior mechanic tool set, and it comes with an easily-referenced warranty.
4. Craftsman 450-Piece Mechanic Tool Set
This full-polish chrome finish mechanic tool set comes with 450 different pieces—but keep in mind that 419 of these pieces are sockets, bits, and hex keys. The set also comes with ratchets, wrenches, extension bars, hex keys, and a screwdriver adapter, making it well suited for automotive work.
At 43 pounds, you won’t be moving it around much, but the sturdy design is perfect for a work truck, or garage. The four-tiered storage box is made of durable plastic and uses basic locking mechanisms on the sides of the drawers to keep them in place during transportation. Backed by a lifetime warranty, the set is worth the higher price tag if you work in an industry that will see you use all the included pieces.
5. DEWALT DWMT72165 Mechanic Tool Kit and Socket Set
The DEWALT DWMT72165 Mechanic Tool Kit and Socket Set includes 204 pieces with a greater focus on sockets and ratchets than many other kits. This makes it a great choice for anyone looking to quickly establish a complete mechanic tool set, or for people who work on parts or projects with a large number of nuts and bolts of different sizes. The sockets in the tool set include virtually any common size you may need and are clearly marked so you can easily find what you need when you need it.
The standout part of this set is the primary ratchet that will work with any of the sockets included in the set. The ratchet has a 72-tooth gearing system that gives you precise control over the amount of torque you apply. The body of the ratchet is slim for difficult-to-reach places and is designed for one-hand operation with quick socket changes.
6. Stanley STMT71653 Drive Socket Set
A small mechanic tool kit makes it easier to keep track of the most important or common tools you use regularly. For something small and manageable, the Stanley STMT71653 Drive Socket Set focuses on quality over quantity. With 145 pieces, the set offers some of the most common tools you will need for typical projects around the home and garage. Each tool is made from high-quality steel and finished using nickel or black chrome. It’s an excellent kit if you only occasionally do simple repairs, or want a second kit you can carry with you in the trunk of your car.
The ratchets of the set include Stanley’s Max-Drive design, which increases the amount of torque you can deliver while tightening nuts and fasteners. The design also helps the tool last longer, since it minimizes the amount of contact between the ratchet and the socket while still delivering more torque than other common ratchets.
7. Ryobi P883 One+ 18V Lithium Ion Cordless Kit
The Ryobi 8-Piece Power Tool Set comes bundled in a durable bag so that you can keep your tools safe and easily transport them. The bag’s wide-mouth opening allows you to remove and replace tools without struggling. Included in the set is a helpful work light to illuminate basements, crawlspaces, or any other poorly-lit location.
The main tools in the power tool set include a circular saw, a ½-inch drill/driver, and a reciprocating saw, all powered with the two batteries that are compatible with over 50 other Ryobi power tools. The circular saw comes with a side handle and a rubber over-mold that helps increase your grip during use. This ½-inch drill/driver can change bits without a tool and has a magnetic tray to hold bits or fasteners. The reciprocating saw has a variable speed trigger so you have complete control during use and the anti-vibration handle keeps your hands safe from vibration damage.
8. DEWALT 20V MAX Cordless Drill Combo Kit
The premium-priced DEWALT 10-Piece Power Tool Set is a great option if you want to switch out several tools at once. Highlights include the two-speed settings that range from 0 to 1,500 RPM for the ½-inch drill and the ¼-inch impact driver, which produces 117 foot-pounds of torque at its maximum level. The reciprocating saw has a 4-position blade clamp so you can get as close to flush as possible while cutting in various positions.
The 6½-inch carbide blade on the circular saw rotates at an impressive 5,150 RPM so that even the most difficult cuts can be done quickly and effectively. The brushless oscillating tool has several features including a quick-change system that requires no wrench. A 4½-inch grinder with a 7,000 RPM motor, and compact job site blower are included. A charger, two batteries, and a job site Bluetooth speaker are included.
9. Black and Decker 20V MAX Combo Kit
Black and Decker specializes in making solid, effective and affordable power tools for household use. Along with Dewalt, they’re undoubtedly one of the most trusted names in the tool industry. This $125 set packs all of the essentials in one collection. A power drill and driver, an LED work light, a reciprocating saw and a circular with a high torque motor and a 5.5-inch blade. B&D throws in all of the accessories, including two lithium-ion batteries, battery charger, a double-ended bit, a 5.5-inch circular saw blade and a reciprocating saw blade.
10. Milwaukee 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit
This exclusive online deal from The Home Depot is the perfect set if you’re looking for a reliable and affordable drill combo kit. Like similar power tool sets from Dewalt and Black+Decker, this Milwaukee combo kit comes with a cordless 1/2-inch drill driver, a 1/4-inch Hex Impact Driver, a 6.5-inch Circular Saw, an 18V lithium-ion battery, charger and an LED work light. However, this combo kit has a few extra goodies. The Home Depot customers will also get an M18 Random Orbit Sander and a 23-piece titanium drill bit set. While you might expect this kit to cost at least $400, it’s available online for just $325.
11. PORTER-CABLE Cordless Drill Combo Kit
The Porter-Cable PCCK619L8 Cordless Drill Combo Kit is another eight-tool pack. It includes things like a drill driver and circular saw – the usual tools found in a set like this. It is designed to deliver performance with the portability often needed at the job site (and often at home too). If you don’t want to have to worry about extension cords or finding an outlet, these cordless tools are a solid choice.
All the tools are lightweight and ergonomically designed. This set is an excellent option for anyone who works long and hard. In these situations, a set that is comfortable to use can prevent fatigue, allowing you to get your project done faster. All tools included are backed by a 3-year warranty as well, so you won’t have to worry about them breaking after a few months of use.
However, this toolset is premium. It is made a step above most toolsets, but that also comes with an added cost. It is a fair bit more expensive than most of those we reviewed – something you should keep in mind if you’re on a budget. We only recommend this set if you’re a professional or involved in lots of projects.
12. Makita XT263M Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit
Makita makes this small XT263M LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit. It comes with a driver drill as well as an impact speed driver. Both tools are variable speed and decently lightweight. They are engineered to withstand the dust and water that often comes with DIY work. However, we didn’t find that these tools were more durable than some of the others we reviewed, so the “extreme protection technology” doesn’t seem actually to be doing much.
These tools are also protected against overloading and overheating. This is very useful, though many other high-quality tools come with this feature as well. While this feature isn’t awe-inspiring, it is useful to have.
This kit also comes with a charger and two batteries – everything you need to get started right away. A carry kit comes with it as well. However, it is not as high-quality as other cases. This kit is a bit more expensive than you would expect since it only contains two tools. You can purchase other, cheaper kits that also have two tools. In most cases, we recommend saving your money and buying them instead of this kit.
13. CRAFTSMAN Cordless Drill Combo Kit
Including a cordless drill, impact driver, circular saw, and a LED light, the Craftsman CMCK401D2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit technically comes with four tools, batteries, and a charger. However, the light doesn’t count as a tool. It’s a filler tool, for lack of a better word. Because of that, we only consider this set to come with three items that are proper tools.
However, this set is very cheap, so you’re getting what you pay for. It does not cost as much as some other four- or even two-piece kits, so the flashlight doesn’t bring down its rating much. The tools are of decent quality, and it comes with a 3-year warranty.
Still, we found a few different things we didn’t like about this set. Firstly, it runs out of charge very quickly. The batteries included are not the best. It isn’t necessarily bad for the price, but you could spend just a bit more and get out number two pick – a far better option for those trying to save money.
14. Leatherman Charge+ TTi
The Leatherman Charge+ TTi is a dense piece of versatile equipment with a magical mix of attributes in a functional design. This tool is made from impressive materials and has proven to have the best blades in our test. The materials are chosen for maximum function, durability, and to increase the “bling” factor. There are at least four types of steel (including top-shelf blade steel) plus titanium and diamond components. At about half a pound, the Charge is average in weight for a full-size tool. It’s equipped to carry many ways. Leatherman’s low-profile bit driver and the included bits nearly double the overall number of functions.
On the flip side, the Charge+ TTi is very expensive. It costs more than any other product we evaluated. Additionally, we wish that Leatherman included a full-size 1/4″ bit driver instead of their proprietary “squashed” interpretation. They could cut out the generic flat screwdriver/”pry bar” and used the extra space for the larger bit driver. As it is, you must use either an adapter/extender or Leatherman’s proprietary bits. Even better would be a bit driver whose geometry centers the driver relative to the handle. Somehow build the pliers to lock and include the above modifications, and we’d have our dream multi-tool. The Charge TTi is a top-of-the-line product despite our minor gripes. We heartily recommend Leatherman’s flagship tool that pulls no punches for anyone needing the best model for frequent use.
15. Best Hand Weeder: CobraHead Original Weeder and Cultivator Garden Tool
Whether you’re new to gardening or tired of pulling weeds by hand, the CobraHead Original Weeder and Cultivator is one basic tool to consider. Niki Jabbour, author of Growing Under Cover and co-owner of Savvy Gardening, says the short-handle CobraHead has been her go-to weeding tool for over a decade. It has a durable steel blade with a curved design to help get deep into the ground and pull out weeds, plus a cultivating tip to easily work around plants and section off rows during planting.
16. Toro PowerJet F700
The Toro PowerJet F700 is like an air bazooka. It quickly and easily gets under dense, damp, or matted leaves to lift them and move them forward. We found the simple one-handed interface easy to use, and the curved handle gave us flexibility in positioning the angle of the airstream. The Toro also provides a second pommel grip at the front of the handle, which is a good thing because the airstream was so powerful in our tests that we sometimes relied on a second hand for better control. Typically available for less than $60, it’s one of the best-priced blowers you can get—it’s cheaper than most other electric models, and most cordless or gas models can easily cost $200 more. But it has to be the right fit for your property: It’s tethered to an outlet, which limits range to about 100 feet or less, and if you also need to buy an outdoor extension cord to go with it, that’ll cut the cost savings down a bit.
DeWalt Power Tool Black Friday Deals:
DEWALT 20V Max Cordless Drill / Driver Kit
DEWALT’s 20V MAX cordless drill/driver comes from one of the most respected names in professional power tools. It offers superb quality and excellent performance at an affordable price.
At around 3.5 pounds, the DEWALT is relatively light and well balanced. The 1/2-inch clutch indicates its impressive power and versatility. The brush motor offers two speed ranges for added flexibility, plus 16 clutch settings for precise driving control. An LED light brightens dark corners.
DEWALT’s 20V Max kit comes with a 1.3Ah battery, a charger and a carry bag. Its durability and reliability are among the best in the industry. This DEWALT cordless drill would make a valuable addition to the tool kit of both DIY enthusiasts and professionals.
DEWALT 20V Impact Driver and Hammer Drill Combo Kit
This DEWALT combo will appeal to both DIY remodelers and professionals. The cordless hammer drill makes light work of drilling into tough materials like masonry. The impact driver effortlessly deals with oversized fasteners like deck screws that can sap the energy from even the most powerful standard drill/driver.
Both tools benefit from brushless motors that maximize the performance of the impressive 4.0Ah batteries. The drill has a 1/2-inch chuck with a durable, all-metal 11-position clutch. It also offers three speed ranges. The impact driver delivers high torque and 3,600 impacts per minute for consistent, fast driving of even the largest fixings. Despite their power, each tool weighs in at just 3.4 pounds.
DEWALT DWE7491RS
DEWALT likely needs no introduction as it is an extremely experienced power tool manufacturer that specializes in professional-grade products. That said, the DEWALT DWE7491RS still manages to surprise in a couple of aspects across the board.
For starters, this model comes with a powerful motor that generates 2 hp and pushes 15 amps which is better than average for a jobsite table saw. On top of that, the DEWALT DWE7491RS also spins its blade at 4800 RPMs which makes it great for cutting dense hardwoods.
Keeping this solid spec train rolling, this portable table saw also boasts a 32 ½ inch rip capacity to the right and 22 inch rip capacity to the left– the latter of which tops the list. This table saw also comes with a decent rolling stand that not only makes moving it from job to job easier but acts as its own stand as well.
DEWALT 20V MAX XR Chainsaw, 12-Inch
Some people don’t require the power to topple tall oaks like a lumberjack. They need a chainsaw that can handle light-duty work, like chopping up small trees after a storm or pruning overgrown branches. This compact 12-inch chainsaw from DEWALT is large enough to cut through tree trunks up to 10 inches in diameter, but, at less than 9 pounds, is also small enough to wield easily.
And, though small, it’s mighty, thanks to its brushless motor and powerful 20-volt battery. That’s enough power to make up to 90 cuts per charge on 4×4 pressure-treated lumber. With its auto-oil feature and no-tool chain tension adjuster, you won’t have to slow down to make adjustments or lube the chain. This chainsaw is available for purchase on its own or with a battery and charger.
DEWALT Lithium-Ion 4-1/2-Inch Grinder
Cordless angle grinders are often beneficial, as they’re more portable and versatile since you’re not restricted by a power cord. For a high-end cordless angle grinder, you can’t go wrong with the DEWALT 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-1/2 in. Grinder. This is a lightweight, versatile, and powerful angle grinder that you can use for a variety of applications.
The downside of this product is that the batteries and chargers are sold separately, but you definitely won’t be disappointed with a performance of this cordless tool. This grinder is perfect for a wide range of applications, including construction, maintenance, and even automotive work. It features a quick-change wheel release that allows you to switch disc without any tools, and the 8,000-rpm motor provides all the power you need for cutting and grinding a variety of materials.
Milwaukee Tools Black Friday Deals 2021:
Milwaukee Electric Tools Hammer Drill
Milwaukee is another excellent manufacturer of power tools, and though its hammer drill may look small it is a powerful little tool. It’s built with a hex impact driver that increases its speed and torque so you use less muscle. Plus its 12V motor may be on the smaller size. But don’t let it fool you; the device is quite capable of drilling into most materials.
The body is constructed out of a combination of metal and plastic. This makes the tool much more capable of withstanding impacts and drops, but be careful not to drop it at all. It’s also quite light, and its small size means it will fit right at home inside a tool chest or box.
However, this is a corded drill, so the cable may get in the way when you maneuver around the garage. Another downside is the tool does not seem to come with any written instructions. This may make it more difficult to operate properly. The grip, although comfortable, can also be a bit too large for some hands.
Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2-Inch Impact Wrench 2767-20
If you want a cordless impact wrench that offers reliability, a reasonable price and high torque, it’s hard to beat the Milwaukee 2767-20 M18 Fuel High Torque 1/2-Inch model. Made by one of the most respected manufacturers in the power tool field, the 2767-20 may very well be the only impact wrench you ever need.
The 2767-20 weighs under six pounds, but it doesn’t sacrifice power for size — its brushless motor delivers 1,000 pound-feet of fastening torque and 1,400 pound-feet of breakaway torque for removing stubborn fasteners like a lug nut. The 1/2-inch socket size is one of the most common, meaning that it can handle many of the nuts and bolts you’ll encounter.
The Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2767-20 is currently the second-best selling power impact wrench on Amazon, with an astonishing 4.9 stars out of five. That rating is based on over 4,400 reviews, meaning that the cordless wrench has a lot of satisfied customers. Not only is this Milwaukee impact wrench sold by itself, but it’s also available in one- and two-battery kits.
Milwaukee 2720-20 M18 SAWZALL Reciprocating Saw
While many a reciprocating saw is dubbed a “Sawzall,” this one is the real deal. The Milwaukee M18 SAWZALL Reciprocating Saw features a combination of convenience and power. This full-size reciprocating saw operates on a powerful, REDLITHIUM XC 4.0 Battery (battery pack and charger sold separately), and provides up to 3,000 SPM for tearing through construction materials at top speeds.
The saw features a variable-speed trigger and an on-board LED light that illuminates the cutting surface so the spot where you’re cutting is visible even in low-light situations. This two-handed model weighs in at 8.55 pounds, measures 17 inches long, and is designed for serious demolition projects. It comes with a hook for hanging when not in use. No blades are included.
M18 FUEL GEN 2 MILWAUKEE LEAF BLOWER
It seems like only yesterday we got all jazzed up when Milwaukee announced its entrance into the OPE market. Among a handful of new tools was the company’s first blower . It turned out to be a respectable first crack at what Milwaukee billed as a supplemental tool for Pros working in noise- or emissions-abatement areas. That Gen I Milwaukee placed 11th among a field of sixteen contestants in our big cordless blower shootout. And now, faster than the 100 MPH wind speed coming out of that Gen I, comes a revamped version with (what we expect to be) lessons learned from the first go ’round. Let’s stir up some debris with the M18 Fuel Gen II Milwaukee Leaf Blower!
FAQs
Should you shop on Black Friday or wait until Cyber Monday?
There’s little difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday at this point, as sales run semi-continuously from Black Friday through Cyber Monday (or stop briefly over the weekend between the two and then start up again with the same deal prices). Cyber Monday used to be more tech-centric, but even that distinction has waned as retailers that skip Black Friday—many of them apparel and outdoor gear oriented—proceed to offer sales on Cyber Monday as an alternative. However, shoppers concerned about stock availability or shipping delays may prefer to buy during Black Friday or even pre–Black Friday sales. We’ll be covering this topic in more depth as Black Friday approaches.
